At Farm Bureau, our agents aren’t just sales people - they’re members of the community who are working hard to make sure their friends and neighbors are protected from the unexpected. When building your insurance business, it’s important to remember that you’re not just selling a product; you’re selling protection. That’s why being an insurance agent is different.

We provide the training and resources you need to hit the ground running in your insurance career, even if you don’t have a sales background. One of the ways we support new agents is through our marketing coaches. Find out what Katrina Thornton, a Marketing Coach in Kansas, had to say about the support marketing coaches offer to new agents!

When Does Marketing Coaching Start?

Once you become an agent with Farm Bureau, you’ll partner with one of our 12 marketing coaches across the eight states that we cover. Training typically begins as early as your first month with an initial meeting. Here you’ll be introduced to the marketing coaching program and you’ll get set up.

What Is the Marketing Coaching Program?

Our marketing coaching program is tailored to each agent’s specific needs. Some agents need more help with the prospecting side of the business, while others could use more assistance in building their community presence. Whatever you need, we’re here to help.  Essentially, as marketing coaches, we support agents in all stages of their career, helping them leverage the marketing tools available to build their business.

What Is Your Goal as a Marketing Coach?

Our main priority is to set new agents up for success by guiding them through the tools they can utilize to start building their business on day one. When we first meet with new agents, we put together a customized marketing plan to get them off to a fast start their first few months. There are so many programs and resources available to our agents, our role is to help them understand what, when, and how to use them to achieve their goals.

Commonly the first few months we talk about how the agent can utilize social media to connect with potential and current client/members, what they can do to make the most of their provided agent website, and how our Customer Relations Management (CRM) system can keep their business organized.
