Farm Bureau Financial Services is proud to introduce Luis Ybanez, a Farm Bureau agent from Kansas, as part of our “Agent Spotlight” series. Luis has been with Farm Bureau for a little over one year and takes pride in helping his community in any way he can. Learn more about what keeps Luis motivated and what he enjoys most about being a Farm Bureau agent.
Why did you choose to become a Farm Bureau agent?
I wanted to help people protect their dreams and be compensated for my efforts.
What keeps you motivated every day?
I’m motivated knowing that I’m helping people with their situations and risks. I love to see the client’s eyes open up and they smile when they understand what’s available to them and their family.
What does your typical day look like as a Farm Bureau agent?
I wake up at 6 a.m. and spend time in meditation and study, and then I dash to the office after taking my son to school. I work on the little things that need to be done. Lunch isn’t far behind, and going with my wife is a highlight for me. The afternoon is usually full of meetings and appointments, whether it’s an annual review or with a new client.
What do you like most about your community?
There are a lot of opportunities in the financial services industry. The Hispanic community has been underserved, neglected, and sometimes left out of the “American Dream.”
What is your favorite part of your day as a Farm Bureau agent?
My favorite part is knowing the people l just met or talked to are going to be better off today and tomorrow. I can then rest easy and go home to my family.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite memory is going to Disneyland for the first time when I was seven years old. We stayed in the hotel and had breakfast with Mickey Mouse each morning.
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are playing golf and riding my Harley as far as I can. It’s awesome letting the wind hit my face as my wife and I cruise into the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
What is your favorite holiday, and why?
Christmas, of course. I get the privilege and blessing of giving people gifts they may not otherwise have. Seeing the look on their faces as they open their gifts is priceless. Plus, I love the cold weather and snow.
