Celebrating Farm Bureau Agents Who Are Veterans

At Farm Bureau, some of our best insurance agents and agency managers are veterans who have served our country. Veterans come to Farm Bureau with leadership skills and a passion to serve and protect that is unmatched. This Veterans Day, we’d like to honor a few of our agents who have served by sharing their stories. Get to know these hometown heroes a little better as they explain why they feel being an insurance agent is the right fit for those who enjoy serving others.

WHEN DID YOU SERVE OUR COUNTRY?

CHRISTOPHER BRUNS, NEBRASKA ASSISTANT AGENCY MANAGER

I became a United States Marine after graduating high school in North Platte, NE in 2003. I faithfully served until late 2012. During that time I experienced many different situations as a communicator, infantryman, instructor and recruiter that helped me become the professional that I am today.

JAKE WAREHAM, KANSAS ASSISTANT AGENCY MANAGER

I joined the Marine Corps in June 2009 and finished active duty in December 2013.

WHAT APPEALED TO YOU ABOUT JOINING FARM BUREAU?

Jake Wareham

CHRISTOPHER BRUNS, NEBRASKA ASSISTANT AGENCY MANAGER

Farm Bureau Financial Services is a unique company that is exceptionally positioned to serve the communities that I care deeply about. Agents all across our companies respond with servant’s hearts to the needs of the very people that make our country as strong as it is today - the very same people that I served to protect while on active duty. Belonging to this great organization, in so many ways, allows me to continue my lifelong pursuit of service.

JAKE WAREHAM, KANSAS ASSISTANT AGENCY MANAGER

Joining the Farm Bureau team interested me because it gives me the ability to continue helping and protecting people. Being my own boss also gives me control over my future and success with hard work and dedication.

HOW DOES SERVING YOUR COUNTRY AND SERVING YOUR COMMUNITY RELATE?

Christopher Bruns

CHRISTOPHER BRUNS, NEBRASKA ASSISTANT AGENCY MANAGER

Serving others means working selflessly and diligently to proactively protect livelihoods and futures while providing a strong sense of security and peace of mind for people. It is also being there for those individuals and families when they need it most. Those actions are what Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen and Coast Guardsmen do every day, and the same can be said for agents here at Farm Bureau.

JAKE WAREHAM, KANSAS ASSISTANT AGENCY MANAGER

Farm Bureau’s motto is to protect livelihoods and futures. Agents everywhere do this at a local community level, and I feel that in the Marine Corps I was able to help do the same thing at the national level. Both organizations strive to serve and protect others.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT WORKING FOR FARM BUREAU?

CHRISTOPHER BRUNS, NEBRASKA ASSISTANT AGENCY MANAGER

I thoroughly enjoy working with such a diverse set of agents every day and helping them maximize their ability to serve their clients. I also have the chance to do what I am most passionate about, which is providing others with economic and employment opportunities. I believe this is the most effective way to empower individuals.

JAKE WAREHAM, KANSAS ASSISTANT AGENCY MANAGER

I enjoy getting to help agents reach their full potential. I also feel accomplished when I get to help our clients/members get the protection they should have for their families.

WHAT DOES VETERANS DAY MEAN TO YOU?

CHRISTOPHER BRUNS, NEBRASKA ASSISTANT AGENCY MANAGER

Veterans Day is a special time to formally recognize and show appreciation for all those who have and are currently serving, as well as remember and salute the many service members who are Missing In Action and Prisoners Of War - something I believe people across our country do every day.

JAKE WAREHAM, KANSAS ASSISTANT AGENCY MANAGER

Veterans Day to me is a day to say thank you to all the men and women who have raised their hands and said, “I will volunteer myself to protect this country.”
