Farm Bureau Agency Manager Christina Teager’s Story
When two EF4 tornadoes struck Pilger, Nebraska and resulted in $15 million worth of damage, Christina Teager knew she had to do something to help the community. Christina posted on Facebook asking for donations to help Pilger residents, and within 24 hours, she was able to collect over 2,000 pounds worth of donations.
Christina’s generosity didn’t end there. She was close to meeting her monthly goal and needed to obtain five more clients to reach it. By utilizing Facebook once again, she announced that if she reached her goal, she would donate 100 percent of her bonus to the relief fund set up for Pilger residents. Not only did Christina reach her goal, her co-workers all decided to pitch in and add to the donation.
First Hand Account from kevin Anderson, Farm Bureau Vice President of Enterprise Information Protection
Many people may not understand the importance of purchasing life insurance. Kevin Anderson, the Farm Bureau Vice President of Enterprise Information Protection, knows firsthand how important it is to protect families from the unexpected.
Kevin’s father, an insurance agent, helped teach Kevin that it’s important to protect those around you. Sadly, Kevin’s father passed away from cancer at age 52. Knowing that he needed to protect his family, he had a life insurance policy that ensured Kevin’s mother would be able to pay off their home as well as send Kevin and his brother to college.
Stories from Farm Bureau Client/Members
Meet Nebraska Farmer Brad Lundeen
Brad, a Nebraska farmer since 1968, relies on his irrigation system to ensure his crops produce good yields. In 2014, a severe line of thunderstorms that brought torrential downpours and straight line winds hit Brad’s farm. In the morning, he discovered that 16 pivots in his irrigation system had sustained substantial damage, as well as his grain bins being totaled, resulting in major losses for his operation.
Before the storm occurred, Brad had a SuperCheck with his Farm Bureau agent, Rod Hunt. Because of the SuperCheck, Brad had peace of mind knowing that if his farm equipment was damaged, it would be replaced. Within a week of the devastating storm, Brad was able to have his farm up and running again. And the best part was that there was no loss in his crop yield.
Helping the Brock Family Get Back on Their Feet
To the Brock family in Delmont, South Dakota, Mother’s Day is memorable for a reason other than it being a day to celebrate mom. On this day, Adam and Katy Brock almost lost everything.
After seeking shelter in their basement, an EF2 tornado hit their home directly. Once the storm had passed, and upon realizing the damage, they contacted their Farm Bureau agent, Pat Westendorf. Every step of the way, the Brock family felt that Pat was with them through the claims process. Pat’s helping hand extended outside of insurance-related matters, as well. The family’s pet, who had been in an outside kennel during the tornado, was missing. Five days had passed when Pat sent a text to the Brocks informing them their beloved dog Gracie had been found safe under the neighbor's house.
Within two days, Farm Bureau got Katy and Adam a check for their home and their two vehicles. However, this check didn’t solely cover the home and the vehicles. It also covered what was inside the home. Because of this, the Brock family was able to make their home whole again.
