Meet Farm Bureau Agent Kalvin Johnson

Recently, we sat down and chatted with Farm Bureau agent Kalvin Johnson about his career as an agent. He shared with us how long he’s been an agent, what he loves about his job and more. Meet Kalvin: a Farm Bureau Insurance Agent

Can you tell us a little more about yourself?

My name is Kalvin Johnson, and I am an agent here at Farm Bureau Financial Services.

When did you join the Farm Bureau team?

I joined Farm Bureau back in June 2016. I liked the fact that we could offer a variety of products, and we can help a lot of people that way.

Being a newer agent, how do you feel Farm Bureau supports you and your career?

I can’t stress enough how much support that they give you at Farm Bureau. Between your agency manager, assistant agency manager, home office, underwriting, the technology, tools and marketing materials, there’s so much support offered. Being able to talk to your underwriter, call them over the phone or shoot them an email is a whole new world to me.

If you don’t think you know enough when going to a meeting, especially in the beginning of your career, you can bring the manager, the regional financial consultant and an underwriter to help out. I think that’s huge because a lot of agents think that they have to go out and do this all by themselves and they aren’t sure what to do, or they feel they don’t have enough knowledge. But in reality, you have so much support and many people who are willing to do what they can to help you succeed.

Do you feel like you continue to learn throughout your career?

I am still learning every single day, and the tools, resources and people here are like nowhere else. Outside of Farm Bureau’s resources, they offer continued education to help us grow and sharpen our insurance skills and knowledge.

Have you had a hard time meeting new clients?

It’s a lot easier to talk to people when you have that Farm Bureau name. It’s been extremely positive experience, and becoming a Farm Bureau agent has been a good decision. The income potential is unlimited, and there are not a whole lot of jobs out there like that.

What’s your favorite part of being a Farm Bureau insurance agent?

We are protecting what’s important for our client/members and what matters most to them. We are making sure when the time comes to use their insurance, their livelihoods and futures are protected. That’s where I get my spark or fire from because I’ve seen the impact we have on people. I’ve witnessed it, and it really helps motivate me to try and help other client/members.
