How Farm Bureau Supports Agents

Just as you’re committed to your customers, we’re committed to you. Here are a few of the ways Farm Bureau offers support to all of our agents.

Ongoing Training and Education

Becoming an insurance agent can be a big change — but know that you’re not alone. We provide our agents, new and seasoned, with continued education and award-winning training to stay on top of insurance industry trends and technology.

As a new agent in training, you’ll have a dedicated team to guide you. A seasoned agent, your District Manager and other specialists will be by your side through our joint work approach.

Take a look at a few of our education and training resources:

Online learning: We understand that life can be hectic, so study on your own time and at your own pace.

Strategic focus: Learn the ins and outs of business management skills, product offerings and proven sales techniques.

Classroom training: Through introductory training classes and Agent Academies, agents can build their knowledge.

Marketing Materials

Marketing yourself and your services can be tough, but fear not: We offer extensive marketing support. Our online marketing tools are your go-to resources for social media, direct mail, email and advertising guidelines — all designed to help to help you market your business and communicate with your clients. As a Farm Bureau agent, you also have access to a marketing coach and an on-call sales team to answer any questions that you might have.

A Personalized Website

Your potential clients are heading online to find their next insurance agent. That’s why we provide Farm Bureau agents with a free, personalized website. Use your site to tell your story and instantly connect with future client/members.

Helpful Resources

At Farm Bureau, you’re never on your own. With our mentoring program, a seasoned agent will be ready to help you, whether it’s assistance in client meetings or helping you find solutions for your client/members. There are also District Managers and experienced field trainers dedicated to your success.

Become Active in Their Community

The most successful agents are cornerstones of their communities. They do things like coach a sports team, participate in a parade and join organizations like the school board. Getting your name in front of different community members can help bring in potential client/members.

Participate in Networking Groups

In the insurance business, the more people you know, the better. Seek out networking opportunities, whether within the industry or outside of it. For agents living in small communities, this may mean joining a weekly coffee group. Our agents that live in larger metros join organizations such as young professional groups, college alumni organizations, Rotary or Kiwanis. And don’t be afraid to go online! Platforms like LinkedIn offer excellent opportunities to connect and share knowledge and insights.

Learn New Skills

Being a great agent means continually advancing current skills and learning new ones. What are your pain points? Public speaking, project management, marketing or closing sales? Consider additional education you can pursue — formal or otherwise — to practice these disciplines. Having a growth mindset will strengthen your ability to provide the best service possible to potential or existing client/members.

Meet with a Mentor

When you join Farm Bureau, you’ll have a mentor to help you get started and build your business. However, successful agents also often find mentors outside of our program. These mentors may not necessarily be in the insurance industry but are valuable resources and can help agents look at situations with an entirely new perspective. A great mentor may “fall” into some agents’ laps while others may have to seek and develop a relationship. No matter how the relationship with a mentor begins, agents benefit greatly from having trusted guidance and support.

How to Be a Better Insurance Agent

From mentorship to marketing, joining the Farm Bureau team could be the change you’re looking for. Connect with a District Manager to learn more.
